Public Housing

The Housing Authority of the City of Pueblo owns and manages public housing units throughout the city which are funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).   Public housing is intended for the most disadvantaged members of the community, i.e., extremely low-income, elderly or disabled residents.  We offer 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 bedroom units which may be in single or multi-floor buildings and are filled by applicants on our wait list.

The Vail Hotel

The Vail Hotel was built in 1911. The Housing Authority purchased the building in 1979. After extensive remodeling, keeping its historic features, it was first occupied in 1984. This housing complex is for the elderly/disabled. It features easy access to the HARP, Union Avenue shopping district, El Pueblo Museum, Senior Resources Development Center, and Memorial Hall.

Mesa Tower Apartments

This apartment community was built in 1976 and has ten stories with 103 units. This complex is an elderly/disabled building and is part of the Public Housing Program. This complex is centrally located at 260 Lamar, just north of the historic Mesa Junction shopping area.

Minnequa Park Apartments

This elderly/disabled apartment complex has been part of the Public Housing Program since 1983. It is four stories and consists of 40 units. This complex is located on the South side of the city at 1400 E. Orman Ave. The unit is located next to the beautiful Bessemer Park and easy walking distance to the many shops on Northern Ave.
