Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program

The Housing Choice Voucher program (HCV) is a tenant-based program that is funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). This program allows participants to find their own housing, including apartments, townhouses and single family homes as long as the unit meets the standards of quality and safety as established by HUD. Since the HCV program is tenant based it allows participants to move without losing assistance. People who receive Section 8 vouchers from the Housing Authority find their own rental housing and use the vouchers to help pay their rent. The voucher is for a specific amount which the Federal Government agrees to pay for rent. The tenant is responsible for the remainder of the rent. To lean more about the HUD Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program click HCV Program.

The Housing Authority does not manage or own the housing in this program. Locating suitable housing is the tenant's responsibility. We direct interested landlords to this website to list their properties ( which makes it convenient for our clients. However, this is not the only source for available housing.

New utility allowances for the Housing Choice Voucher Program effective April 1, 2017 are available by clicking the appropriate link:
